Geotech has contributed to the
design and construction of a variety of geotechnical instrumentation
works. Following are details of some notable project-related
experiences, followed by a comprehensive list of Geotech projects and
a description of the new services Geotech provides:
Notable Projects
Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Contract C220 -
NATM Tunnel underpass Taiwan Second Freeway Project
Because the route of Taiwan High Speed Rail Contract C220 is planned
to intercept an underpass to the Taiwan Second Freeway at Km 97.5. A
plan of freeway deformation monitoring (FDM) program was developed to
monitor the effects of THSR Contract C220's NATM Tunnel construction
to ensure that any adverse condition that might develop during
construction and could be detected as soon as possible.
In addition to geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, the FDM plan
consists of:
-
horizontal in-place
inclinometers, vertical inclinometers, and extensometers, supported
by the Automated Data Acquisition System (GT-10);
-
real-time Geo-Auto
monitoring system; and,
-
automated monitoring
system consisting of one permanently installed robotic total
stations and an array of 21 prisms mounted on the surface of the
freeway.
The 3D total stations
are remotely operated and they automatically collect three-dimensional
positioning data on a set time schedule from which displacements are
determined and plotted. The collection and analysis of the geodetic
data are accomplished in a fully automatic mode by Geo-Auto and Geo-DMS
software developed By Geotech Engineering Consultant Co.Ltd.
Geotechnical Instrumentation - Geo-DMS Database Management System
software Contract - for Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit
Project
The Red and Orange Lines of Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Project have
been divided into 11 sections and 3 depots general contracts. The
total combined length of the Red and Orange Lines of the Kaohsiung
Rapid Transit System is 42.7 kilometers. Along these two lines, there
will be thirty-eight stations, twenty-eight of which will be
underground, two at ground level and eight elevated.
Because of the numerous sensitive structures, the variable subsurface
conditions, the first-time use of new construction equipment and
methods, and the sensitive political environment, there are great need
for rapid analysis of data from geotechnical instrumentation.
KMTC Corporation uses Geo-DMS database management systems software to
develop a database system to receive, store, retrieve and plot data
from all geotechnical instruments during the design and construction
phases of the project. The Geotechnical Instrumentation Sub-Contractor
(GISC) places data into this system so that the project staff can
retrieve the specific data they need in graphical and tabular forms on
their computer screen or as a printout. The functional purpose of this
database management system is to provide the feasible possibility to
view all instrumentation data at any location of the project
immediately.
GEOTECH has a four-year contract with the
KAOHSIUNG METROPOLITAN MASS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM
Authority (KMTC) to provide 6 sets of
Geo-DMS package of geotechnical instrumentation Database Management
System services for the MRT Project in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. According to
the agreement negotiated, the main contractor of each contract has to
be liable for the installation, maintenance and reading of the
instruments. The instrumentation data is requested to transmit via
email to KMTC’s Instrumentation Database control center on a 24-hour
turn around basis., By using Geo-DMS Database Management System
software provided by GEOTECH, the trained engineers of KMTC will
process, check, restore data and provide status reports from
instrumentation sub-contractor.
